Warning: I am not a fan of: Auto Show,Boat Show,Gun Show,Comic Con,Gem Show, and anything similar. Please be advised that my opinions are biased!
Initially, everyone was excited and ready to go to the Comic Con,even me,because we were planning to meet “River and Rory,”characters from BBC’s “Doctor Who”(If you haven’t watched it,you must!).But this spirit died down.
I was planning a major Saturday by sending everyone off to Comic Con and staying home:enjoying my cooking, cleaning, blogging, listening to songs and good stuff. But all in vain!
My husband stayed home so he could prepare for his exam.Yip,an eight hr exam for him.
Once we were able to park our car, ducklings and I set off to a very busy place.
People were pouring from all the directions. They were dressed in every character. The lines were long but moving super fast.It took me a while to understand my total. At first she said $199,and then $146.I didn’t like that at all!But there was no turning back.
As we made out of the “price shock,”we entered the labyrinth of stalls, all selling paintings, pictures, jewelery, costumes of fictional characters. The place was packed with Batman,Daleks,Tinkerbell,Mermaids,Beast Boy,Wonder Woman, and all the comic world dwellers.
At first,we liked the costumes, but after half an hour,we wanted to find some entertainment.Nothing! I quite didn’t understand the concept of this show.Yes,we get to see people as something and someone,bu that’s it.It just reminded of Halloween in September.
The map helped us direct towards the photo-op which reminded us of our initial enthusiasm for this event:Rory and Rivers. We juggled to go towards that area, and saw long lines for people waiting to get autographs($75),or pictures($85) for some guy,John…One guy who didn’t have a line was a character from Star Trek.Sorry,no picture.
Finally,we gave up and left for home.
I wish there were some entertainment or a little reasonable entry charge. But,Iearnt a lesson,Comic Con only for enjoying the costumes…no more no less.
